Sisters Under the Rising Sun - Heather Morris

Sisters Under the Rising Sun - Heather Morris

Chris Vitagliano ·

Wow.  Heather Morris's storytelling abilities really shine through in this novel.  It is gripping and emotional about a period in history which still raises a lot of emotions. These historical figures are brought to life and if you are like me you find yourself cheering for their small success which would have been quite significant in their situation.

This story is about the Australian Army Nurses who are escaping from Singapore in 1942, from the advancing Japanese forces.  It follows Nesta James and Vivian Bullwinkel through the harrowing ordeal of the sinking of the Vyner Brooke and their subsequent capture by the Japanese forces in Indonesia.  (For those who read Anthea's book, it will bring back some memories).  It is a story that shines a light on the unbreakable bonds of friendship, resilience and bravery in the darkest of circumstances.

Heads up, you might require some tissues.  I'm sure this will leave you as moved and inspired as I was.  Definitely a must read for fans of historical fiction and those who love reading books set in World War II.  It is available 26/9/2023.  You can pre-order your copy from the link below.
