Cold People by Tom Rob smith

Cold People by Tom Rob smith

Matthew Vitagliano ·

A family holiday in Italy which turns into a frightening, post apocalyptic escapade. In this atmospheric novel, there is a race for survival. Humanity must migrate to the world’s most inhabitable continent, Antarctica to survive a new, eminent threat - an alien invasion. The survival of the humanity is dependent upon their adapting and working together to survive their harsh new environment.

This book is a little different from what I normally would read and it took me a few chapters to get into.  With romantic Italy as a backdrop and the very early stages of a possibly blossoming romance for the first little bit, I began to wonder where it was going to became apocalyptic and would I actually be able to finish the book.  Then the atmosphere changes dramatically!!!  Not only is survival of of the human race at stake, but to continue surviving for generations in one of the coldest, most uninhabitable place on earth.  This poses a very important question would humanity be able to adapt to this environment to survive for generations to come.

After the slow start, I really started to commit to the read and enjoyed it especially the ending.  And for all of those readers who like to read the ending before reading the book - don't!!!

Chris 😊
